BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Selena Lott, Marquette, Jr., G
Lott picks up her first career BIG EAST Player of the Week certificate after leading the conference in scoring and tying for the lead in assists in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. Lott went for a career-high 34 points in Marquette’s win over St. John’s on Friday, adding seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. She followed that with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in Sunday’s win over Seton Hall. For the week the junior averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and .613 shooting, knocking down nearly 42 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles have won three straight to jump into the top half of the conference standings.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, R-Fr., F
Siegrist picks up her seventh BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor of the year after averaging a double-double in a 1-1 weekend for the Wildcats. The rookie led the BIG EAST in rebounding with a 13.5 average while listing among the league leaders in scoring with 17.0 clip. She posted back-to-back double-doubles, beginning with 11 points and 11 rebounds against Butler on Friday before exploding for 23 points and 16 rebounds in Sunday’s win over Xavier. Siegrist’s seven double-doubles on the year lead all BIG EAST players, while her 20.1 season scoring average also continues to lead the Conference. Her 9.3 rebounds per game rank second behind Xavier’s A’riana Gray (9.4).
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Kristen Spolyar, Butler, Sr., G
Spolyar led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 road swing, averaging a team-high 15.0 points along with 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals. In Sunday’s win at Georgetown, Spolyar scored 15 points and was credited with a game-high four steals, sinking the game-winning free-throw with less than a minute to go as Butler won its third straight and improved to 3-2 in conference play.
Jaylyn Agnew, Creighton, Sr., F
Agnew scored nine of her game-high 18 points over the final 10 minutes as the Bluejays erased a once-double-digit deficit to rally and defeat Providence on Saturday. The junior added six assists, four rebounds, two steals and a block, playing the full 40 minutes against the Friars.
Sonya Morris, DePaul, So., G
Morris helped keep the 15
th-ranked Blue Demons undefeated in BIG EAST play, averaging 17.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in home wins over Seton Hall and St. John’s. The sophomore notched her first career double-double with 17 points and a game-high 11 rebounds, including five off the offensive glass, in Sunday’s victory over the Red Storm.
Qadashah Hoppie, St. John’s, Jr., G
Hoppie finished second in the league in scoring last week, averaging 21.0 points per game in road games at reigning BIG EAST regular-season champion Marquette and Tournament champion and 15
th-ranked DePaul. She had a team-high 22 points against the Golden Eagles and a game-high 20 points against the Blue Demons.
A’riana Gray, Xavier, Jr., F
Gray posted back-to-back 20-point games in a 1-1 road swing for the Musketeers. The junior scored 20 points off 6-of-12 shooting in Xavier’s first BIG EAST win of the season at Georgetown on Friday before collecting her fourth double-double of the year with 20 points, 10 rebounds in Sunday’s setback at Villanova. She averaged 20.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals for the week.
