Minar, Conners Earn #BIGEASTswim Weekly Honors

NEW YORK -- Seton Hall's Thomas Minar and Xavier’s Emily Conners claim the latest BIG EAST Swimming and Diving weekly awards after an action filled weekend across the league. Conners led the Musketeer women to a 208-83 victory over Cincinnati, while Minar paced the Seton Hall men to a win over Delaware, 181-117.

In action around the conference, the Villanova women's squad narrowly edged Rutgers 150.5-149.5. Providence men took down Holy Cross with a mark of 198-82, while the Friar women fell 182-118. Georgetown’s men’s and women’s squads dropped to local rival George Washington. The Seton Hall women were edged 154-140 by visiting Delaware.

Female Athlete of the Week
Emily Conners, Xavier, Sr., Free (Sunfish Lake, Minn.)
Conners picked up two individual event victories and an additional top-three finish while leading the Xavier women to a 208-83 win over local rival Cincinnati.  Conners paced the Musketeers in the freestyle sprints, taking event victories in the 50 free at a 23.89 mark and the 100 free touching the wall at 52.21. Conners also led Xavier in the 200 free, posting a time of 1:54.11 to finish third. The senior also swam the freestyle leg on the second place finishing 200 medley relay team with a split of 1:45.66.

Male Athlete of the Week
Thomas Minar, Seton Hall, Fr., Free (Oxford, Conn.)
Minar guided his team to a 181-117 victory over Delaware with two individual victories and two relay wins. The freshman was first to touch the wall in the 50 free with a time of 21.54 followed up by a first place finish in the 100 free (47.36). The Pirates 400 free relay team took home a win, turning in the ninth best time in the BIG EAST this season with Minar posting a 47.11 split. The Oxford, Conn., native closed out the meet with a 20.8 split on the winning 200 medley relay team.
