Villanova and St. John’s registered Saturday road wins.  Xavier and Creighton play Sunday in the first game of the BIG EAST All-Access Doubleheader.

At a sold-out Dunkin’ Donuts Center, visiting Villanova carved out a 64-60 win against Providence.  The Wildcats (16-3, 6-1), ranked ninth by AP this week, increased their winning streak to six games.  After the Friars took a 49-48 lead with 8:46 to play, Villanova’s Collin Gillespie nailed a 3-pointer which put the Wildcats ahead to stay.  Gillespie finished with 18 points.  Jeremiah Robinson-Earl added 17 points.  Nate Watson led Providence (11-10, 4-4) with 18 points and nine rebounds.

At Wintrust Arena, St. John’s picked up its first true road win of the season with a 79-66 victory over DePaul, which also gave the Johnnies a sweep of the regular-season series.  L.J. Figueroa scored a career-high 28 points, which included 7-of-12 from 3-point range.  Mustapha Heron added 20 points.  The St. John’s (13-8, 2-6) defense held DePaul to 30.8 percent shooting from the field.  Charlie Moore led the Blue Demons (13-7, 1-6) with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

Home teams are 22-14 (.647) in league games going into Sunday.

Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on FS1, Xavier coach Travis Steele and Creighton coach Greg McDermott will wear microphones in the BIG EAST’s annual All-Access Game on FOX Sports. Each head coach wears a live microphone, giving viewers the chance to hear directly from the sidelines and locker rooms from tipoff through the final whistle with virtually no interruption. Commercial-free presentations allow FOX Sports cameras and microphones to capture behind-the-scenes conversations not typically available to a television audience, including instant access to team huddles and locker rooms.  Both teams are coming off wins on Wednesday.  Xavier (13-6, 2-4) defeated Georgetown and Creighton (15-5, 4-3) turned back DePaul 83-68.

The All-Access Doubleheader continues with the St. John’s and Seton Hall women’s teams meeting in South Orange at 6:30 p.m.  St. John’s coach Joe Tartamella and Seton Hall coach Tony Bozzella will wear the live mics.
