MBB Minute -- Seton Hall Defeats Georgetown with Balanced Attack

In the only BIG EAST action Friday, Seton Hall used a balanced attack to defeat Georgetown 78-62 at Prudential Center.   Four Pirate players scored at least 14 points and four had at least six rebounds.

Center Romaro Gill scored a career-high 17 points, grabbed eight rebounds and blocked four shots.  Myles Cale added 16 points and six boards.  Myles Powell finished with 15 points and six assists.  Quincy McKnight notched a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.  He did not commit a turnover.

Seton Hall (10-4, 2-0) built a 41-24 lead by halftime and maintained a double-digit advantage throughout the second half.  Mac McClung, who missed Tuesday’s game at Providence with an eye injury, scored a game-high 20 points for Georgetown (10-5, 0-2).  Jamorko Pinkett had 10 points and nine rebounds. 

The Saturday schedule shows three afternoon games.  At noon ET on FS1, Creighton (12-2) visits Butler (13-1).  Both teams won at home in last year’s meetings.  The Bulldogs took an 84-69 decision at Hinkle Fieldhouse behind Kamar Baldwin’s 28 points and seven assists.  Butler is 1-0 in BIG EAST play after Tuesday’s 60-58 win at St. John’s.  Creighton beat Marquette 92-75. 

Villanova visits Marquette at 2 p.m. on FOX.  The Golden Eagles won last year at Fiserv Forum 66-65 behind Markus Howard’s 38-point effort.  In the league’s current 10-team configuration, Villanova holds an 11-2 edge in regular-season play.  The Wildcats (10-2) beat Xavier 68-62 in their season opener on Monday.   

Also at 2 p.m., Providence plays at DePaul on FS1.  The Friars (8-6) beat Georgetown 76-60 in their conference opener while the Blue Demons (12-2) lost to Seton Hall 74-66.  The two teams have split the last eight meetings.  Providence has not started 2-0 in BIG EAST play since 2015-16.
