BIG EAST and St. John's to Host 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball East Regional at MSG

Road to the Final Four runs through NYC March 23 and 25, 2023

NEW YORK -- The BIG EAST Conference and St. John's will host the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball East Regional at Madison Square Garden as announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee. Games are scheduled for March 23 and 25, 2023 at "The World's Most Famous Arena," the site of the BIG EAST Tournament since 1983 and the home court of the Red Storm for nearly 90 years.

The road to the Final Four will run through The Garden for the third time in a span of a decade, as MSG will be the final stop in 2023 for one team headed to Houston to compete for a national title at NRG Stadium.

After a 53-year hiatus, the NCAA Tournament returned to Madison Square Garden in 2014 for the East Regional, which were the first NCAA Tournament games at MSG since 1961. St. John's and the BIG EAST also hosted the 2017 East Regional and were scheduled to play host to the 2020 East Regional in Midtown. The 2023 NCAA Tournament Regional Final will be the 80th NCAA Tournament game held at Madison Square Garden in its storied history.

The NCAA additionally announced venues for March Madness from 2022-2023 through 2025-2026. Six BIG EAST schools were chosen as hosts: Creighton, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's and Seton Hall.

Creighton will host the First and Second Rounds at the CHI Health Center Omaha in 2024. The 2025 First and Second Rounds will be played at two BIG EAST home courts with Providence hosting at the Dunkin' Donuts Center and Marquette at the Fiserv Forum. The 2025 East Regional will be played at Newark's Prudential Center hosted by Seton Hall. In 2026, Georgetown will host the East Regional at the Capital One Arena.
