Top Two Seeds Face Off In League Of Legends™ Fall Invitational BIG EAST Championship

NEW YORK – BIG EAST esports top two seeds, No. 1 St. John’s and No. 2  Seton Hall will face off in the College League of Legends™ Fall Invitational Championship game on Friday, Oct. 23.  The winner of the match will receive the BIG EAST automatic qualifier into the next round of the College League of Legends Fall Invitational Championship hosted by Riot Games.

St. John’s (3-0) has not surrendered a point in BIG EAST tournament play so far. The matches are best of three in the game title, League of Legends, developed by Riot Games.

Seton Hall (3-1) defeated No. 8 Villanova, 2-0, in the semifinals of the BIG EAST bracket on Saturday. Earlier in the week, the Wildcats advanced with a 2-0 win over eighth-seeded Marquette.

The championship will stream live on the Electronic Gaming Federation’s (EGF) Twitch Channel (twitch.tv/officialEGF). EGF is the BIG EAST Conference’s esports governance, marketing and distribution partner.

The 32-team national tournament will begin on Oct. 27. The seeds and schedule will be released on Monday, Oct. 26.

The competition is operated by PlayVS. Results will not impact team or conference standing in the 2021 Season in any way and no prizes will be awarded and is free for all participants. Eight of the BIG EAST Conference’s 11 schools competed in the Fall League of Legends Qualifying Tournament.

The BIG EAST is one of five athletic conferences participating in the fall League of Legends tournament. The Conference joins the ECAC, ECC, Landmark Conference and Mountain West Conference. Additionally, there are two esports specific conferences: Esports Collegiate Conference and Midwest Esports Conference.
