What’s #Trending
Villanova’s Brianna Herlihy: While Maddy Siegrist gets most of the shine for the Wildcats (6-0), and rightfully so as the BIG EAST’s leading scorer and rebounder, Herlihy has been a spark lately. After a quiet first two games to open the year, the senior forward has averaged 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds over the Wildcats’ last four contests, including a 24-point, nine-rebound, six-block showing against La Salle on Dec. 9.
Xavier’s Kae Satterfield: The Ohio State transfer has made an instant impact for the Musketeers, averaging a double-double of 13.7 points, 10.0 rebounds over her first three games in Cincinnati. Satterfield has scored in double figures all three games for Xavier and has shot a blistering .762 from the field, the top clip in the BIG EAST by a player with multiple game appearances. Satterfield is the daughter of former University of Cincinnati standout Kenny Satterfield.
Return of Rembao: Creighton played its first three games of the year without senior guard Tatum Rembao, going 0-3 and shooting just 28 percent (50-176) from the field. Since Rembao’s return, the Bluejays are 2-0, including last night’s large-margin win over rival Nebraska, and shooting 44 percent. Creighton has upped its three-pointers per game from 7.0 over the first three games, to 14.0 over its last two.
Marquette On The Glass: The Golden Eagles (4-1) have outrebounded all five opponents this season, including three by double digits. MU ranks 30
th nationally in rebounding margin, 15
th among teams with at least five games played. Four different Golden Eagles have led MU in rebounding this year, including a season-high 14 boards for Selena Lott on Sunday at Belmont.
This Week On FloSports
Five BIG EAST games are scheduled to stream on FloSports this week, beginning on Wednesday when St. John’s (2-3) travels to Marquette at 2 p.m. With the announcement of the RV/- Villanova-Providence tilt being postponed, the Red Storm-Golden Eagles showdown will be the lone FloSports contest of the day. Action picks back up with a Saturday 1 p.m. tripleheader: Creighton at Villanova, Marquette at Seton Hall and St. John’s at Providence (3-4). The busy afternoon wraps up at 3 p.m. when Georgetown makes its season debut at No. 24/23 DePaul (2-2).
In The Polls
No. 3/5 UConn and No. 24/23 DePaul maintained their spots in both national polls after each squad went 1-0 on the week. After improving to 6-0 on the year, Villanova received votes in Monday’s Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since Feb. 13, 2018. The lone top-25 non-conference opponent on the docket this week belongs to the Blue Demons, who host No. 9/9 Kentucky on Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Wildcats mark the third top-25 opponent for DePaul (2-2) this year.
