BIG EAST women’s basketball play heated up on Saturday with four more conference results in the books. No. 3/5 UConn and Villanova remained perfect on the year while No. 24/23 DePaul won its league lid lifter and Providence picked up conference victory No. 2. Among the notable performances on the afternoon was Maddy Siegrist, who went off for 34 points and 19 rebounds for the Wildcats.  
 
3/5 UConn 106, Xavier 59 
The Huskies opened the game on a 19-0 run and never looked back, despite narrow margins in the second and fourth quarters. Six UConn players finished in double figures, including a game-high 24 points for Christyn Williams and a 19-point, nine-assist contribution from Paige Bueckers. Xavier, which was outscored by just two in the second frame and three in the fourth, was led by Nia Clark’s 11 points and four assists. UConn improved to 4-0 on the year, including 3-0 in BIG EAST play, while Xavier dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in conference.

24/23 DePaul 72, Georgetown 54
In the first BIG EAST contest for each team, and the first game of the season for Georgetown, the Blue Demons pulled away late to claim their third straight victory. DePaul saw four finish in double figures, including game highs of 19 points and 12 rebounds for Dee Bekelja. Yasmin Ott shined in her collegiate debut for the Hoyas, making 7-of-10 attempts from the field, including 4-of-6 from deep, en route to a team-high 18 points. Leading by six midway through the third quarter, DePaul (4-2, 1-0) closed the frame on a 13-2 run to stretch its lead to double figures where it would remain the rest of the way.

Providence 76, St. John's 53 
The Red Storm were without BIG EAST leading scorer Leilani Correa and the host Friars took advantage. Providence (4-4, 2-1) saw four score in double figures, including a game-high 20 for Chanell Williams, and a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double for Mary Baskerville. Raven Farley led St. John’s (2-5, 0-3) with 12 points and six boards. Leading 13-10 after one quarter, the Friar offense caught fire to take a 10-point lead into halftime and lead by double digits the rest of the way. PC shot 53 percent between the second and fourth quarters after beginning the contest just 4-of-16.

Villanova 73, Creighton 68 
Maddy Siegrist exploded for 34 points and a career-high 19 rebounds to help keep Villanova undefeated (7-0, 2-0 BIG EAST) on the year. Siegrist was 11-of-22 from the field and added three assists and three blocks. The Wildcats jumped out to a 20-8 lead after the first quarter but the Bluejays (2-5, 1-2) clawed back to take the lead midway through the third quarter. Villanova led by two, 59-57, midway through the fourth before going on a decisive 7-0 run to keep Creighton at bay. Siegrist’s 19 rebounds were the most in the BIG EAST since Marquette’s Erika Davenport collected 23 on Feb. 8, 2019, against Georgetown.
