NEW YORK – Xavier guard Paul Scruggs has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week.  Scruggs led the unbeaten Musketeers to a buzzer-beating victory against Marquette.  St. John’s guard Posh Alexander has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after helping the Johnnies to a 1-1 week.  
BIG EAST Player of the Week 
Paul Scruggs, Xavier, G, Sr. – Scruggs was the top performer in Xavier’s 91-88 victory against Marquette.  The senior scored a game-high 29 points and had six assists, four rebounds and three steals.  He made 5-of-8 from 3-point range.  For the season, Scruggs is averaging 16.4 points and leads the BIG EAST in assists with a 7.0 average. 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Posh Alexander, St. John’s, G, Fr. – Alexander helped St. John’s win its first BIG EAST game, a 94-83 decision against Georgetown.  He had 10 points, three assists and three steals.  Alexander also had 13 points in a loss to Creighton.  For the two games, he averaged 11.5 points and shot 50 percent from the field.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
James Bouknight, Connecticut, G, So. – Scored 40 points in his first BIG EAST game, one point off the league record, in a 76-74 overtime loss to Creighton.
Damien Jefferson, Creighton, G-F, Sr. – His basket with 0.2 seconds left tied the game in an overtime win at UConn (76-74).  In a 2-1 week, averaged 12.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
Nate Watson, Providence, C, Sr. – Posted game-highs of 23 points and 11 rebounds in an 80-77 overtime win at Seton Hall.  Shot 10-of-16 from the field and went over 1,000-points for his career.
Sandro Mamukelashvili, Seton Hall, F, Sr. – Averaged 18.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists in a 1-1 week.  Had 17 points, seven assists and six rebounds in a win at Marquette (70-63).
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, Villanova, F, So. – Averaged 21.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in a 2-0 week.  Shot 61.5 percent from the field.  Had 25 points in a win against Saint Joseph’s (88-68).
