Familiar Faces Claim #BIGEASTwbb Weekly Awards

Villanova’s Maddy Siegrist and UConn’s Paige Bueckers earn weekly honors again.

Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, So., F
Siegrist claims her third weekly honor of the season after erupting for 34 points, 19 rebounds, three assists and three blocks in Saturday’s win over Creighton. Of her 34 points, 15 came in the third quarter alone. The sophomore forward’s career-high 19 rebounds were the most in the BIG EAST since Feb 8, 2019, when Marquette’s Erika Davenport collected 23 against Georgetown. The double-double was Siegrist’s BIG EAST-leading sixth of the season, she eclipsed the 30-point mark for the second time this year, and regained her spot atop the BIG EAST season scoring column by bumping her average to 24.4 points per game, the 13th-highest clip nationally.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Paige Bueckers, Connecticut, Fr., G
Bueckers sparked the third-ranked Huskies to a 3-0 week in BIG EAST play, averaging 18.3 points, 6.3 assists, 5.0 rebounds and .595 shooting. The rookie guard opened the week with 25 points, four boards and five assists in a win at Seton Hall on Tuesday, followed by an 11-point, seven-rebound, five-assist outing in Thursday’s victory over Creighton. Bueckers ended the week with a 19-point, four-rebound, nine-assist, four-steal performance in Saturday’s win over Xavier. Through her first four collegiate games, Bueckers is averaging 18.0 points, 6.0 assists and 2.8 steals, all which rank in the top five in the BIG EAST.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Christyn Williams, UConn, Jr., G
In a 3-0 week for the Huskies, Williams averaged 20.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and .512 shooting.  She ended the week with a season-high 24 points against conference foe Xavier on Saturday.
Dee Bekelja, DePaul, Sr., G
Bekelja stuffed the stat sheet in a 2-0 week for the 24th-ranked Blue Demons, averaging 15.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in victories over No. 9 Kentucky and Georgetown.
Selena Lott, Marquette, Sr., G
In the Golden Eagles’ lone game of the week, Lott totaled 21 points, five rebounds and four assists as Marquette knocked off St. John’s. She was 7-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-6 from deep.
Chanell Williams, Providence, Sr., G
Williams scored a game and season-high 20 points off 7-of-12 shooting, along with three assists and two steals to lead Providence to a win over St. John’s on Saturday.
Lauren Park-Lane, Seton Hall, So., G
Park-Lane was unstoppable against the third-ranked Huskies on Tuesday, scoring a game and career-high 29 points while adding six assists and two rebounds. Her previous career high was just 18 points scored against Saint Peter’s a week earlier.
