NEW YORK – Seton Hall’s Myles Cale has won BIG EAST Player of the Week honors and Butler’s Chuck Harris has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Cale poured in 30 points – the highest scoring total in a league game this week – helping the Pirates defeat Georgetown. Harris averaged 16.0 points in a 1-1 week, which included a win against Providence.
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Myles Cale, Seton Hall, G-F, Sr. – Cale scored a career-high 30 points in only 28 minutes of playing time to carry Seton Hall to 78-67 victory against Georgetown. The senior made 10-of-16 from the field, including 5-of-9 from 3-point range. He scored 17 points in the first 6:23 of the second half to propel to the Pirates to the win. For the season, Cale is averaging 12.6 points per game.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Chuck Harris, Butler, G, Fr. – Harris averaged 16.0 points, while helping Butler to a 1-1 week, which included a 70-64 win over Providence. The freshman guard had 12 points in a 70-64 victory against the Friars and 22 points in a 76-73 loss to Southern Illinois. For the two games, he made 5-of-7 from 3-point range and averaged 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds.
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Antwann Jones, Creighton, G, So. – Scored 13 points and grabbed four-rebounds in 13 minutes, coming off the bench in a win over No. 23 Xavier (66-61).
Romeo Weems, DePaul, F, So. – Scored 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor, including five 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds in a double-OT loss at Providence (95-90).
David Duke, Providence, G, Jr. – Averaged 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in a 1-1 week. Scored a game-high 24 points to go along with six assists and five rebounds in a 95-90 double-overtime win over DePaul.
Jared Rhoden, Seton Hall, F, Jr. – Scored 26 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds in a victory against Georgetown (78-67). The scoring total tied a career high.
Collin Gillespie, Villanova, G, Sr. – Scored a game-high 22 points, including 6-of-11 from 3-point range, and dished four assists in a win at Marquette (85-68).
