The host Golden Eagles scored 56 points between the second and third quarters to pull away from Providence and claim the first BIG EAST win of the season in Friday’s opener. Jordan King and Selena Lott tied for the game high with 18 points apiece, leading Marquette (2-1) which shot 50 percent (33-66) from the field. The Friars (2-3) were led by Kyra Spiwak’s 10 points, while Olivia Orlando chipped in eight rebounds and five assists. Spiwak scored in double figures for the third time in the last five games for PC.

Villanova 90, Temple 72
Maddy Siegrist passed the 20-point mark and notched a double-double for the third straight game in 2020-21, posting game highs of 23 points and 12 rebounds as Villanova remained undefeated. The Wildcats (3-0) never trailed in the contest thanks to .507 shooting (34-67) and a 33-point third quarter. Brianna Herlihy scored a career-high 22 points while Sarah Mortensen added 18 points and career highs of nine rebounds and five assists. Through the first three games, Villanova is scoring on average 74.3 points while holding opponents to just 56.3.

The Blue Demons trailed by just six after the first quarter, 30-24, at Mohegan Sun Arena before the Cardinals erupted for 71 points over the next two frames to pull away. DePaul’s outside weapon wasn’t there on Friday night as the Blue Demons were just 4-27 from beyond the arc, while Louisville controlled the inside game, winning the rebounding battle 56-40 and scoring 74 points in the lane. DePaul’s Darrione Rogers scored a game-high 25 points, going 12-15 from the charity stripe.
