BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week
Jake Carraway, Georgetown, Sr., A (Annapolis, Md.)
Georgetown senior attackman Jake Carraway had seven points this week with four goals and three assists to help the Hoyas to a 14-8 road win over University of Maryland Baltimore County. Carraway scored three consecutive goals for Georgetown, helping GU go ahead 3-2, 4-3 and 5-3. He also scored the final goal of the game with 2:04 remaining and was credited with an assist on the eventual game-winning goal. Carraway’s seven-point Saturday moved him to third on Georgetown’s all-time scoring chart with 192 points (129G, 63A). He also added a ground ball and a caused turnover to his statline.
BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week
Mike Madsen, St. John’s, Sr., M/A (Locust Valley, N.Y.)
St. John’s senior midfielder Mike Madson scored 10 goals in a 1-1 week for the Red Storm. Madsen had back-to-back five goal performances. Three of his goals were scored man up. In the overtime loss to Stony Brook, Madsen scored the game-tying goal to send the contest to overtime with 2:08 remaining. Four of his five goals came in the second half. In St. John’s 13-11 win over Hartford on Saturday, Madsen had back-to-back goals in the fourth to help St. John’s tie the game at 11-11. He also scored St. John’s first, third and eighth goals.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Toby Burgdorf, Providence, Jr., Goalie (Westfield, N.J.)
Providence junior goalie Toby Burgdorf repeats as Defensive Player of the Week as he earned his third win of the season allowing just nine goals and saving 15 attempts in a 16-9 win over Bryant. Burgdorf has averaged six goals allowed in three games for the 3-0 Friars. Burgdorf also picked up one ground ball. Seven of his 15 saves came in the fourth quarter.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Chris Kirschner, Marquette, M, Fr. (Flemington, N.J.)
Marquette freshman midfielder Chris Kirschner scored his first career hat trick for the Golden Eagles on Saturday against Jacksonville. The midfielder posted game- winners in MU’s first two games of the season and is tied for the team lead with seven goals on the year.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jack Hannah, Denver, Jr., M
Hannah scored a career-high six goals to go along with an assist in a 15-13 loss to then-No. 11 Duke on Saturday. Scored four of Denver’s first-half goals to keep the Pioneers within striking distance at the intermission.
James Reilly, Georgetown, So., FOS
Reilly was dominant at the ‘X’, winning 19-of-24 faceoffs and collecting 12 ground balls in Georgetown’s 14-8 road victory over UMBC.
Colin Crowley, Villanova, Jr., M
Crowley had a career high day in VU’s 18-12 loss to then-No. 3 Yale on Saturday. Crowley was the third player last week to have seven points in a game as he scored three of the Wildcats goals and assisted four.
