Day One Results | Thursday Heat Sheets

EAST MEADOW, N.Y.
-- After the first day of competition at the 2020 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships presented by Jeep, Georgetown leads the women's team rankings with 136 points, while Villanova and Georgetown pace the men's rankings with 70 points apiece.
 
The evening finals began with the 800 yard free relay, where the Villanova women scored their seventh straight title and the Wildcats also took gold for the men. In Wildcat tradition, Villanova took the women’s race comfortably in 7:16.85. Following behind with a time of 7:24.66, Xavier took the silver with the Hoyas earning the bronze with a mark of 7:28.38. On the men’s side, Villanova, Seton Hall, Xavier and Georgetown kept the competition close for the entire event. In the end, the Wildcats took home the gold, finishing the race with a time of 6:36.55. The Pirates picked up a silver medal with a time of 6:36.84, followed closely behind by the Musketeers with a time of 6:37.33.
 
Georgetown shined in the One-Meter Women’s Diving competition with a trio of Hoyas finishing in the top-four. Junior Riley Fujioka stood atop the podium after a finals score of 281.30. Senior Elizabeth Miller earned the silver at a 265.65 while Villanova’s Bridie Dunn turned in a finals score of 258.50 on the board to claim the bronze medal. Margaret Barnhorst picked up a fourth-place finish with a score of 245.30.
 
In the final event of Day 1, the 200 medley relay, the Villanova women took the top spot while the Georgetown men’s squad earned 40 points with the relay victory. The Wildcats posted a time of 1:40.44 with Milly Routledge turning in a 22.38 split at the anchor leg. Xavier followed behind for the silver with a 1:41.24 mark. The Hoyas claimed the relay victory in 1:28.48 as sophomore Sean Devlin swam a 20.12 split to seal the victory for GU. Seton Hall claimed the silver at 1:29.08 while Xavier touched the pad at 1:29.60 to earn the bronze.
 
Day 2 will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the prelims for the 500-free, 200-IM, 50-free and the men’s three-meter diving with the finals being run in the third session of the championships at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The finals of the 200-freestyle relay will close out the session.
