Butler (8-3) returns to action after a week off as the Bulldogs travel to Lynchburg, Va. for the Liberty Softball Classic. BU will face five teams in three days with action beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday against Hofstra. Butler will also compete against East Carolina, Fairfield, Yale and Elon. Through two weekends of action, Lauren Fey has proved to be a threat at the plate with a BIG EAST-best on-base percentage at a .548 mark while hitting at a .457 clip.
Creighton (7-5) travels to Carbondale, Ill. for the Coach B Classic. The Bluejays are set for four games on the weekend kicking off with a contest against Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday. CU will meet Southern Illinois and Murray State on Saturday before closing out the weekend with a game against Northern Kentucky. Ashley Cantu leads the Bluejays and the BIG EAST with a .500 batting average. Cantu also paces the team with 16 hits.
Georgetown (3-12) will stay local for the weekend and take part in the Colonial Classic at George Washington (GW). The Hoyas face Princeton on Friday before meeting Towson on Saturday. GU will wrap up play against Morgan State and GW on Sunday. Mae Forshey leads the way with a team-high 16 hits on .356 batting while Noelle Holliday has recorded four home runs on the season. London Diller owns a team-high 43 strikeouts in the circle.
St. John’s (4-11) hits the West Coast for the San Diego Classic for a five-game slate featuring contests against Long Beach State, San Diego, San Jose State, San Diego State and Mount St. Mary’s. The Red Storm hold an all-time 6-6 record against this weekend’s opposition while defeating each opponent at least once. Gretchen Bowie earned BIG EAST Player of the Week on Feb. 24 after a 12-hit and eight-RBI performance last weekend at the Cardinal Classic in Beaumont, Texas.
Seton Hall (4-9) heads to Madeira Beach, Fla. for the Spring Games beginning on Friday morning. The Pirates face South Alabama and Florida Atlantic on Friday before contests with Sacred Heart and Middle Tennessee on Saturday. The Hall wraps up their stay in Madeira Beach with a matchup against Houston Baptist on Sunday at 9 a.m. Abby Wingo paces SHU with 15 hits on the season while Janae Barracato and Darby Pandolfo have tallied eight RBIs apiece to lead the team.
Villanova (8-7) will face strong competition as the Wildcats travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Woo Pig Classic. VU is set to meet three ranked teams in five games on the weekend. The Wildcats will meet No. 23 Baylor on Friday at 2:30 p.m. before a contest with No. 22 Arkansas at 4:45 p.m. VU returns for another doubleheader on Saturday with a 2:30 matchup against Kent State before its second meeting with Arkansas. VU will close out the weekend with No. 9 Florida State on Sunday. The Seminoles captured the 2018 Women’s College World Series title. Paige Rauch enters the weekend with seven wins in the circle to rank fifth amongst the nations pitchers in victories.
