Vashistha, Mikos Claim #BEtennis Weekly Honors
NEW YORK – Georgetown’s Agata Mikos and Aditya Vashistha of St. John’s have been recognized as the latest BIG EAST Tennis Female and Male Athlete of the Week. Mikos compiled a 3-1 weekend for the Hoyas while Vashistha took down a ranked opponent in the Red Storm’s trip out west.
Male Athlete of the Week
Aditya Vashistha, St. John’s, Jr., Bikaner, India
Vashistha went 2-0 at No. 1 singles , including a victory over #36 Filip Malbasic of No. 25 Arizona, 6-1, 6-4. The junior defeated Cal Poly’s Antoine Noel in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to close out the weekend. Vashistha teamed up with Udayan Bhakar to go 1-1 in doubles action. The junior is 2-0 in the top singles slot this spring season.
Female Athlete of the Week
Agata Mikos, Georgetown, Fr., Chicago, Ill.
Mikos compiled a 3-1 weekend as the Hoyas went 1-1 in dual match play. Mikos posted a perfect 2-0 outing at No. 2 singles including a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 victory over Stephanie Dolehide of Army and a straight set triumph over Seton Hall’s Minja Gligic with 6-1, 6-1 scores. The rookie teamed up with Olivia Ashton in No. 1 doubles action to post a 1-1 mark highlighted by a 6-1 victory over Seton Hall’s Kaur and Ventosa.
