Why We’re Watching …
Creighton at Xavier (1 p.m., BEDN): The Bluejays will look to end a three-game skid, which includes back-to-back single-digit setbacks. Xavier (4-3, 1-2 BIG EAST) is coming off its first BIG EAST win of the season and has already surpassed last season’s win total. While guards are typically the focus for Creighton (2-6, 1-3), rookie forward Emma Ronsiek has emerged as of late, putting up her fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season with 28 points against nationally ranked DePaul on Dec. 22. Sarah Leyendecker emerged for the Musketeers in their last game, tallying 18 points and 11 rebounds against Providence on New Year’s Eve. Creighton has won the last eight meetings with Xavier.
Seton Hall at Providence (1 p.m., BEDN): The Pirates return to the court for the first time since Dec. 15, playing just their second BIG EAST game of the season. Lauren Park-Lane was stellar the last time out for Seton Hall (2-2, 0-1), lighting up then-No. 3 UConn for 29 points to up her season average to 18.8 points per game. PC (4-5, 2-2) was without leading scorer Mary Baskerville in its setback to Xavier on Thursday, and the Friars hope Baskerville and her 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds are back on Sunday. Kyra Spiwak led the charge in her absence, scoring 19 points against the Musketeers. The Pirates have won five of the last six meetings with the Friars, including both tilts in 2019-20.
