Providence 62, Butler 50
The Friars claimed the season sweep over the Bulldogs with Thursday’s win at Alumni Hall, backed by a balanced scoring attack of four players in double figures. Chanell Williams led all scorers with 16 points off 7-of-12 shooting, while Okako Adika led Butler with 14 points, including four made triples. Providence (5-6, 3-3 BIG EAST) jumped out to a 17-4 first-quarter lead before Butler (0-5, 0-4) rallied back with a 19-point second quarter. PC maintained a double-digit cushion in the second half before a 10-2 Butler run in the fourth made it a single-digit game, 55-46, with under four minutes to go. PC responded with seven straight points to secure the win. Mary Baskerville added 13 points and seven boards for the Friars, while Butler welcomed back Genesis Parker, who saw her first game action of the season and scored nine points.
