Offensive Player of the Week
Savannah Rennie, Marquette, Grad., MB (San Diego, Calif.)
Rennie helped Marquette claim five of eight sets at No. 19 Creighton over the weekend, helping the Golden Eagles win in Omaha for the first time since 2013. She hit .419, which ranked third in the league last week, and averaged 2.12 kills per set, while recording three service aces, four digs and five blocks. Her 0.62 blocks per framed tied for the team lead and her contribution at the service line helped MU average nearly 2.5 aces per set against the Bluejays. She landed 10 kills and four blocks while hitting .444 on Friday and added seven kills and three aces in Saturday’s sweep.
Defensive Player of the Week
Naomi Hickman, Creighton, Sr., MB (Lawrence, Kansas)
Hickman averaged 1.88 blocks and 1.25 kills per set while hitting .364 as No. 19 Creighton split with No. 25 Marquette in two matches last week. Hickman tied her career-high with 11 blocks on Friday night in the Bluejays’ 3-2 win over the Golden Eagles, adding eight kills on .412 hitting. On Saturday, Hickman added four more blocks while contributing a pair of kills. Creighton limited Marquette to just .164 hitting last week.
Freshman of Week
Delaney Hogan, Xavier, Fr., MB (Wayne, Ind.)
Hogan averaged 2.57 kills in a 1-1 weekend against cross-town rival Cincinnati. The freshman had a team-high 18 kills while adding .405 hitting, which ranked fourth in the BIG EAST last week. Hogan also added seven blocks, averaging 1.000 per set. In Saturday’s four-set win vs. the Bearcats, she had a season-best 12 kills on .522 hitting.
Honor Roll
Jaymeson Kinley, Butler, So., Libero
In Butler’s five-set win over Indiana State on Thursday, the sophomore set a new season-high total of 29 digs. She also added five aces.
Jaela Zimmerman, Creighton, Jr., OH
Zimmerman averaged 3.75 kills, 2.88 digs as Creighton went 1-1 against Marquette in a top 25 battle.
Taylor Wolf, Marquette, Grad., RS/Setter
Wolf led Marquette in kills (2.50), assists (4.25) and blocks (0.62) per set while adding 1.88 digs per set in a 1-1 weekend at No. 19 Creighton. She totaled 20 kills, 34 assists, three aces, 15 digs and five blocks over eight sets in two matches. She notched a triple-double in Friday’s five-set loss with 12 kills, 16 assists and 12 digs.
Efrosini Alexakou, St. John’s, Jr., OH
Alexakou recorded a double-double of 16 kills and 11 digs in St. John’s four-set season-opening win against Fordham on Wednesday. In the Red Storm’s three-set loss at Temple, she tallied 13 kills while collecting two block sand two digs. For the week, Alexakou led the league in kills per set with 4.14.
Carrigan O’Reilly, Xavier, So., Setter
O’Reilly averaged 10.50 assists per set, ranking third in the league last week, for a total of 84 assists. She added 14 kills, 20 digs, five blocks and three aces with .342 hitting percentage. In Saturday’s four-set win at Cincinnati, she just missed a triple-double with 40 assists, 13 digs and nine kills.
