BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Dante Polvara, Georgetown, So., M (Pleasantville, N.Y.)

Georgetown sophomore midfielder Dante Polvara scored two of the Hoyas three goals in a BIG EAST win on Saturday. Polvara’s first goal came in the 61st minute, giving GU a 2-0 lead. His second goal came six minutes later, unassisted in the 67th minute. The Hoyas are 1-0-0 on the season as the 3-0 win over Villanova was both the season and league-opener for Georgetown. It was Polvara’s first-career multi-goal game.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Paavo Riihijarvi, Seton Hall, Jr., M (Oulu, Finland)
Seton Hall junior midfielder Paavo Riihijarvi played 148 of 180 shutout minutes in a 2-0-0 week for the Pirates, which included a 1-0 victory over league and regional rival St. John’s. Riihijarvi strengthened a back line which held Fairleigh Dickinson to just four shots and St. John’s to eight. The Pirates allowed just two shots on goal. Riihijarvi also helped offensively for SHU as he scored the lone goal in the second minute of the match against SJU.
 
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Rimi Olatunji, Providence, Jr., GK (Brampton, Ontario)
Providence junior keeper Rimi Olatunji recorded his second career shutout as the Friars marked a 2-0 victory over conference and regional rival Connecticut. Olatunji made two saves in the win. The win ties Providence at the top of the BIG EAST leaderboard.
 
Freshman of the Week
Chris Hegardt, Georgetown, Fr., M (San Diego, Calif.)
Georgetown rookie Chris Hegardt’s crafty goal from the top of the box in the 43rd minute proved to be the eventual game-winner for the Hoyas in a 3-0 win over Villanova on Saturday. Hegardt goal came on his only shot of the outing. The win ties the Hoyas at the top of the BIG EAST standings in this early part of the season.
                                                                                  
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Rio Hope-Gund, Georgetown, Sr., D
Hope-Gund helped Georgetown earn a shutout win over Villanova by leading a defense that held the Wildcats to just seven shots, one on goal.
Gevork Diarbian, Providence, Fr., M
Diarbian helped the Friars defeat UConn, 2-0, on Saturday as he scored his second career goal in the 61st minute.
Tani Oluwaseyi, St. John’s, Jr., F/M
Oluwaseyi scored two goals and added an assist in the Red Storm’s non-conference victory over Stony Brook, 4-2 on Monday.
JP Marin, Seton Hall, Jr., F
Marin assisted all three of the Pirates’ goals last week as SHU went 2-0-0 with a 2-0 victory over FDU and a 1-0 win over St. John’s.
Felix Boe-Tangen, Xavier, R-So., F
Boe-Tangen scored two goals last week as Xavier went 1-1. He scored the lone goal in 3-1 loss to Saint Louis and the eventual game-winner in XU’s 10-0 victory over Chicago State on Sunday.
