Villanova, DePaul Earn Latest #BIGEASTsb Weekly Awards

Villanova’s Ryan Henry and Paige Rauch take top player and pitcher honors; DePaul’s Nicole Sullivan is the weekly rookie honoree.

BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week
Ryan Henry, Villanova, Jr., C/DP
In a 5-1 week of non-conference play for the Wildcats, Henry led the BIG EAST in batting average (.647), slugging percentage (1.412), on base percentage (.714), RBI (seven), hits (11) and home runs (four). The junior had five straight multi-hit games to begin the week and recorded her first career multi-HR game in a 9-8 win over Hofstra. Ryan reached base safely 15 times in 21 plate appearances.
 
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week
Paige Rauch, Villanova, Sr., P/RF
Rauch went 2-0 with complete game victories at George Washington and against Hofstra, while totaling 15.0 total innings of scoreless work to include one inning at Saint Joseph’s. The senior struck out 20, including nine in each of her wins, while allowing just one extra base hit (double) over the 15 innings. The shutouts marked the seventh and eighth of her career. Rauch also batted .318 with seven hits and two RBI. Rauch’s ERA (0.00), opposing batting average (.135) and strike outs (20) all listed atop the BIG EAST ledger last week.
 
BIG EAST Softball Freshman of the Week
Nicole Sullivan, DePaul, Fr., P/SS
In her first career BIG EAST series, Sullivan helped the Blue Demons sweep St. John’s, batting .375 with four RBI. Sullivan’s two-RBI single in the sixth scored the go-ahead runs in Sunday’s series finale victory against the Red Storm. She added a double in Monday’s non-conference game at Bradley to finish with a .364 clip for the week.
 
BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll
Lauren Fey, Butler, Jr., IF – posted the top batting average (.556) and on base percentage (.667) in BIG EAST play last weekend, leading the Bulldogs to a 2-1 series win at Seton Hall
Krista Dalgarn, DePaul, Sr., P – went 3-0 in the circle on the week, including 2-0 in BIG EAST play, with a total of 20 strikeouts, including a BIG EAST weekly high of 11 in Monday’s win at Bradley
Ashley Cantu, Creighton, Sr., OF – led the Bluejays to the 2-1 series win at Providence, batting .500 which included back-to-back multi-hit games to begin the series with the Friars; notched 200th career hit on Friday
Karli Ricketts, Butler, Jr., P/DP – picked up two wins at Seton Hall with a 1.87 ERA and 13 strikeouts; added four RBI, including a home run against the Pirates
Shelby Smith, Seton Hall, So., P – batted .500 including two doubles and three RBI while also earning a win in the circle in Sunday’s series finale against Butler; struck out a 2021 conference-only single-game high nine in Game 1 of the series
