BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Jessica Mazo, UConn, So., M
Mazo was the BIG EAST’s points leader in a 2-0-0 week for the Huskies. The sophomore began the week assisting on Yamilee Eveillard’s 11
th-minute game winner against St. John’s on Thursday, dealing the Red Storm their first loss of the season. She followed that with a two-goal showing in Sunday’s 5-0 win over Seton Hall, scoring the match’s second and third goals to clinch the win. Mazo’s five points and two goals were both BIG EAST highs last week as the Huskies improved to 4-1-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in the BIG EAST.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Kelly Ann Livingstone, Georgetown, Sr., D
Livingston anchored a Georgetown defense which allowed just three shots on goal last week and just two corner kicks. The Hoyas scored back-to-back shutout victories at Villanova and against St. John’s as Georgetown outshot both by a combined 26-6 margin, including 12-3 on target. The Hoyas have yet to surrender a goal this season with all six victories, including four in BIG EAST play, coming in shutout fashion.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Stephanie Rodriguez, Butler, R-Jr., GK
Rodriguez collected two BIG EAST clean sheet wins for Butler last week. She now has three shutouts on the season and 12 in her career as a Bulldog to rank third all time. Rodriguez saw all 180 minutes between the pipes this week, starting with a 1-0 showing against Marquette in which she made one save. In Butler’s 4-0 win over Xavier on Sunday, Rodriguez faced a total of 19 shots by the Musketeers. She made six saves, five of which came in the second half, to maintain the shutout. Butler improved to 6-0-0 on the year, including 3-0-0 in the BIG EAST.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Avery Snead, Providence, Fr. M
Snead was instrumental on both sides of the field in the 2-0-0 week for the Friars, assisting a defensive unit which scored back-to-back shutout victories and scoring a game-winning goal. The Providence defense allowed just five shots on goal last week in wins over Seton Hall and Villanova. In Thursday’s victory against the Pirates, Snead scored the game winner in the 62
nd minute for her second GWG of the season. With the wins, Providence improved to 5-1-0 on the year, including 3-1-0 in the BIG EAST.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Emma Bodmer, Providence, Fr., GK – nearly 169 minutes of scoreless action in the net for the Friars, making five total saves in wins at Seton Hall (3/11) and against Villanova (3/14)
Abigal Isger, Butler, R-Fr., F – three points (1g, 1a) in a 2-0-0 week for the Bulldogs, assisting on Thursday’s game winner against Marquette
Randi Palacios, UConn, R-Sr., GK – back-to-back shutout victories in BIG EAST play, including a five-save effort in Thursday’s 1-0 win over St. John’s - the Red Storm’s first loss of the season
Morgan Turner, DePaul, Sr., F – notched a goal and assist in the Blue Demons’ 2-1 win over Creighton on Sunday
Gia Vicari, Georgetown, So., F – had a hand in all three of Georgetown’s goals last week, beginning with a goal and assist in Thursday’s win at Villanova before assisting on the game-winner in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over St. John’s
