BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Desiree Elmore, Seton Hall, Sr., G/F
Elmore was clutch in a 3-0 road week for the Pirates, averaging 19.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.0 steals and .677 shooting in wins at Xavier, Villanova and St. John’s. The senior ended the regular season on a high note with a career-high 30 points to go along with nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals as Seton Hall clinched the No. 3 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep with Monday’s win over the Red Storm. Elmore’s rebounding average last week led all BIG EAST players, while shooting percentage ranked second and scoring clip listed third. The Pirates’ 3-0 week led them to their highest BIG EAST Tournament seeding since 2016.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week
Aaliyah Edwards, UConn, Fr., F
In a 3-0 week for the top-ranked Huskies, Edwards averaged 16.3 points and 9.3 rebounds, shooting an impressive .833 from the field in victories over Creighton, Butler and RV Marquette. All three marks led UConn last week with the field goal percentage leading all BIG EAST players, while the scoring and rebounding clips led all conference rookies. Edwards finished the week with a pair of impactful performances, including 24 points and 14 boards at Butler on Saturday, and 16 points and eight boards in Monday’s win over Marquette.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll
Upe Atosu, Butler, Sr., G
In an impressive 2-1 week for the Bulldogs, Atosu averaged 19.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds, highlighted by a 22-point, five-assist outing in Butler’s win at No. 25 DePaul on Monday.
Lexi Held, DePaul, Jr., G
Held was the BIG EAST’s No. 2 scorer last week, averaging 21.3 points; she scored 20 or more in all three games, while adding 4.0 assists and a BIG EAST-best 4.3 steals per contest.
Camryn Taylor, Marquette, So., F
Taylor averaged team highs of 17.7 points and 8.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Golden Eagles; the sophomore notched a double-double of 20 points and 11 boards in a win at 24
th-ranked DePaul and shot .656 on the week.
Maddy Siegrist, Villanova, So., F
Siegrist posted the top scoring average in the BIG EAST last week with a 25.5 clip over two games; she added 8.5 rebounds and .450 shooting in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats.
A’riana Gray, Xavier, Sr., F
Gray filled the stat sheet with 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists, including a 14-point, 12-rebounds, seven-assist showing in the Musketeers’ season-finale win over Georgetown.
