LaPrise was the BIG EAST’s points leader last week, totaling 13 off nine goals and four assists in a 2-0 road swing at Marquette. In Friday’s 14-13 victory in Milwaukee, the junior scored back-to-back goals with seven minutes to go to put the Huskies back in front, 13-12, and they never trailed again. She finished that contest with a BIG EAST weekly-high six goals to go along with two ground balls. In Sunday’s 18-13 win, she tallied seven points off three goals and four assists, with the four dishes being the second-highest total in the conference last week.
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Sydney Watson, UConn, Sr., M
Watson filled the stat sheet in a 2-0 road swing at Marquette, totaling 10 points off seven goals and three assists, 17 draw controls and three ground balls. In Friday’s victory, the senior registered two goals, two assists and nine draw controls while adding a ground ball and caused turnover. Her unassisted score with 2:42 remaining proved to be the game winner. In Sunday’s win, she went for six points off five goals and an assist, while adding two ground balls and eight draw controls.
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Molly Little, Denver, Grad., D
The Little-led Denver defensive was impressive last weekend, allowing just 4.00 goals per game as the Pioneers swept Butler in the opening weekend of BIG EAST play. Denver limited the Bulldogs to just nine shots on goal in Friday’s 17-3 victory, while disrupting nearly one-third of Butler’s clear attempts. Little tallied four draw controls and two caused turnovers in that tilt. In Sunday’s 17-5 win, Little added a flair of offense with a goal and assists, while also contributing four draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover. Denver held Butler to just 17 total shots on the afternoon while the Pioneers reeled off 32, including 23 on target. Denver was successful in 41-of-45 clears while limiting the Bulldogs to a 29-of-43 mark.
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Kylie Hazen, Georgetown, Fr., A
Hazen finished a 2-0 weekend ranked second in the BIG EAST in points, totaling 10 off of five goals and five assists. Playing her first BIG EAST contest on Friday against Villanova, the rookie exploded for seven points off five goals and two assists, to go along with two ground balls and a caused turnover. She returned Sunday against the Wildcats to total three assists, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
