BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Charles Auguste, Creighton, Jr., M (Montreal, Quebec)
Creighton junior midfielder Charles Auguste led the Bluejays with a goal and an assist for three points in the Bluejays’ 3-0 win over Xavier last week. Auguste contributed with an assist on the game-winner against the Musketeers. He also scored Creighton’s second goal of the match. The junior ranks second on the team with two goals and two assists.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Mirsberger, Marquette, So., D (Brookfield, Wis.)
Marquette sophomore defender Alex Mirsberger played all 108 minutes and scored the game-winning goal on a header to help the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 overtime win over DePaul on Wednesday night. He again played every minute (94) and helped Marquette earn their fifth clean sheet of the season in a 1-0 overtime win over Butler.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Giannis Nikopolidis, Georgetown, Jr., GK (Athens, Greece)
Georgetown junior keeper Giannis Nikopolidis made eight saves for the Hoyas to preserve a 3-0 win over Providence. Five of his saves came in the first half while the score was still 0-0. Nikopolidis has only allowed two goals in five games for a 0.42 seasonal goals against average. He’s made 20 saves. The Providence win was his third shutout of the season.
Freshman of the Week
Nathan Schnur, Creighton, Fr., GK (Evergreen, Colo.)
Creighton freshman keeper Nathan Schnur backed a three-goal shutout victory for the Bluejays with two saves. It was Schnur’s third victory of the season as Creighton moves to 4-4 overall, 4-2 in the BIG EAST’s Midwest Division.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Musa Qongo, Creighton
Qongo helped lead the CU defense to its first shutout of the season while also contributing on the offensive end with an assist on the Bluejays’ second goal. Creighton held the XU offense to just two shots on goal despite 13 corner kicks.
Rio Hope-Gund, Georgetown
Hope-Gund helped the Hoyas to their fourth shutout of the season as he helped limit the Friars to eight shots on goal, 11 total shots. Georgetown defeated Providence, 3-0.
Aidan Rocha, Georgetown
Rocha scored the eventual game-winner against Providence as the Hoyas advance to 5-0-2 on the season. The goal was Rocha’s first of the season.
Chandler Hallwood, Marquette
Tallied six saves in two overtime wins this week against DePaul and Butler. He kept a clean sheet against Butler, his fifth of the season in 10 games.
Maurice Williams, Seton Hall
Scored the game-winning goal for the Pirates, his first of the season. Played all 90 minutes in the shutout victory over UConn. Williams and the back line held the Huskies to just two shots on net. Seton Hall won 1-0.
