Comerford was the BIG EAST’s goals and points leader last week, totaling 11 points over eight goals and three assists in a 1-1 home series against Marquette. She posted the BIG EAST weekly single-game high of nine points in Friday’s 19-15 victory, notching six goals, three assists and four ground balls. She followed that with a pair of goals in the narrow 8-7 setback on Sunday, including the game-tying score with 7:13 remaining.
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Sydney Watson, UConn, Sr., M
Watson filled the stat sheet in a 2-0 home series with Butler, registering eight points off five goals and three assists, and 16 draw controls. The senior had three points (2g, 1a) and 10 draws in Game 1 of the weekend, before following with five points (3g, 2a) and six draws in the Game 2 victory. Seven of Watson’s eight points on the week came in the first half as the Huskies built an early lead.
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Molly Little, Denver, Grad., D
The Little-led Denver defense scored back-to-back wins over reigning BIG EAST Championship winner Georgetown. The Pioneers led the league in caused turnovers per game last week with 12.50, with Little registering seven, including four in Friday’s narrow 15-11 win. The defense cranked up on Sunday, holding the Hoyas to just five goals in the 15-5 victory. Little added seven ground balls and four draw controls, while also dishing an assist on Sunday.
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Abby Jenkins, Denver, Fr., M
The draw control specialist did just that in a 2-0 weekend sweep of Georgetown, totaling 14 draws over the two wins. In Friday’s close 15-11 victory, Jenkins claimed a game-high nine draw controls, before adding a game-best five in Sunday’s 15-5 victory. The Pioneers finished with a 27-23 advantage in draw controls on the weekend.
