Four Teams Share #BIGEASTwlax Weekly Awards

UConn, Denver, Georgetown and Marquette score wins and honors.

BIG EAST Attacker Of The Week
Eliza Radochonski, Denver, Sr., A 
Radochonski was dominant in Sunday’s win over Arizona State, tallying six goals and an assist to go along with two ground balls. The senior scored five first-half goals as the Pioneers took a 13-5 advantage into the half. She opened the second half with another score before adding an assist with under 13 minutes to play.

BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Sydney Watson, UConn, Sr., M
Watson filled the stat sheet in a 2-0 week for the Huskies, combining for 10 goals, three ground balls, 24 draw controls and three caused turnovers. She had four goals, 11 draws, two ground balls and a caused turnover in Thursday’s win over Albany, before going for six goals, 13 draws, two caused turnovers and a ground ball in Sunday’s overtime win over UMass. Watson scored the overtime game-winner against the Minutewomen with 96 seconds remaining in the bonus frame.  

BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Erin Dowdle, Marquette, R-Sr., D
Dowdle anchored a Marquette defense which surrendered just four goals in a 15-4 win over Central Michigan on Friday. The redshirt-senior totaled five draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover, as the Golden Eagles allowed just eight shots on goal and outshot the Chippewas by a 41-17 margin.   

BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Kylie Hazen, Geogetown, Fr., A
Hazen tallied six points off three goals and three assists in Friday’s win at Delaware. She added two ground balls in the 14-8 victory. The freshman attacker had two goals and an assist in the first half before following with two assists and a goal in the second.

Sam Thacker, Denver, So., D – five caused turnovers, five ground balls, three draw controls in impressive defensive effort in 22-10 win over Arizona State (3/7)
Annabelle Albert, Georgetown, Jr., M – instrumental in Georgetown’s five-goal, second-half run after Delaware closed within one, 7-6, early in the half – Albert scored two goals and added an assist during that stretch before adding another goal to end the game
Kate Shaffer, UConn, So., A – totaled six goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Huskies – hat trick in both wins while adding an assist in the Albany victory
