BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Haywood, Butler, Jr., M (Nottingham, England)
Butler junior Jack Haywood had a foot in all three of the Bulldogs’ goals in a 3-2 win over Creighton Saturday in the regular season finale. Haywood netted the game-winner off a free kick in the 80th minute. It was his first goal of the season. Haywood assisted on Butler’s first two goals of the match as well.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Sean Zawadzki, Georgetown, Jr., D (Olmstead Falls, Ohio)
Georgetown junior Sean Zawadzki helped the Hoya defense hold St. John’s to just three shots, one on goal in a 1-0 victory on Saturday that solidified Georgetown’s top overall seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Giannis Nikopolidis, Georgetown, Jr., GK (Athens, Greece)
Georgetown junior keeper Giannis Nikopolidis earned his fourth shutout of the season on Saturday with a 1-0 win over St. John’s. Nikopolidis finishes the regular season with a 5-0-1 record, allowing just two goals in 581 minutes. Nikopolidis was credited with one save on Saturday, a stop on a PK attempt from SJU’s Matt Forster.
Freshman of the Week
Duncan McGuire, Creighton, Fr., F (Omaha, Neb.)
Creighton freshman forward Duncan McGuire earns Freshman of the Week honors for the second straight week. McGuire converted the second goal against Butler on Saturday. McGuire ended the regular-season tied for sixth in the league with 11 points on four goals, three assists.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Charles Auguste, Creighton
Auguste tallied three points with a goal and an assist against Butler in a 3-2 loss. Scored CU’s first goal of the match to tie it at 1-1, and assisted on the Bluejays’ go-ahead goal.
Dante Polvara, Georgetown
Polvara scored the lone-goal, the game-winner, for Georgetown against St. John’s. The win gave the Hoyas the overall No. 1 seed for the upcoming BIG EAST Championship.
