Three Teams Recognized With Latest #BIGEASTtrack Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Casey Comber, Villanova, Graduate Student
Comber recorded the fourth-fastest time in Division I this season in the 1,500 meters at the Joe Walker Invite, coming within 0.26 seconds of meeting the Olympic Trials qualifying standard. Comber lowered his personal best from earlier this season by nearly two seconds and recorded the fifth-fastest time in school history. He was one of six BIG EAST runners (Villanova, Georgetown) who competed in the 1500 meters at the Joe Walker Invite.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Michael Jeffers, UConn, Junior
At the UConn Dog Fight meet, Jeffers recorded a personal best in the javelin with the top throw in the BIG EAST this year at 64.06 meters. The distance ranks 66th among all Division I competitors this season.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Cathilyn McIntosh, Georgetown, Sophomore
At the Joe Walker Invite, McIntosh led her heat of the 800 meters with a time of 2:05.35, 16th fastest in the NCAA this season. She finished third overall while the time ranks second in the BIG EAST this spring.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Emma Chee, UConn, Junior
Chee won the pole vault for the second time this spring and had her best height outdoors to set a school outdoor record for the second-straight week. Chee posted her top outdoor height of her career at 4.05 meters. She sits atop the BIG EAST rankings and ranks 38th nationally.

UConn – hosted the UConn Dog Fight meet; marks which ranked among the national leaders included: Wellington Ventura (400m – 46.69, 47th), Kevin Cawley (3,000m-steeple – 9:13.75, 73rd), 4x100 of Thompson, O'Brien, Hackett, Woodman (40.08 – 34th), Daniel Claxton (high jump – 2.10m, 48th), Richmond Kwaateng (long jump – 7.35, 85th), Matthew Brady (shot put – 17.65m, 70th), Mia Nahom (1,500m – 4:23.77, 95th), Danielle Jordan (1,500m – 4:23.96, 98th), Taylor Woods (long jump – 6.29m, 32nd), Mikyla Rodgers (hammer throw – 57.63m, 83rd)
DePaul – competed at the Tom Botts Invitational at the University of Missouri, which had its second day canceled due to weather; highlights included three Blue Demons running personal bests in the men’s 1,500m, with Shane Knanishu led the way with in sixth place with a time of 3:50.0; Charlie Mcintyre turned in a 3:54.64 to finish 16th. Chris Ahlers ran a 4:01.28 (29th); DePaul hammer throwers Rebecca Chouinard and Billie Martin finished back-to-back, with Martin launching a PR (53.31m)
Georgetown – competed at the Joe Walker Invite, hosted by Ole Miss; marks which ranked among the national leaders included:  Theo Woods (800m – 1:48.27, 15th), Ruach Padhal (800m – 1:49.19, 35th), Robert Brandt (1,500m – 3:38,29, 6th), Jack Salisbury (1,500m – 3:40.48, 17th), Parker Stokes (1,500m – 3:43.05, 39th), Matthew Payamps (1,500m – 3:43.06, 40th), Sami Corman (1,500m – 4:18.27, 30th), Alie Fordyce (1,500m – 4:23.86, 96th)
Marquette – competed at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla.; marks which ranked among the national leaders included:  Samuel Johnson (long jump – 7.40m, 68th), Marquis Ward (triple jump – 15.31m, 62nd), Joseph Keys (decathlon – 7537, 6th)
Providence – hosted the Ocean State Invitational; marks which ranked among the national leaders included: Abbey Wheeler (1,500m – 4:21.04(1), 57th), Maria Coffin (5,000m – 16:02.91, 28th), Lilly Tuck (5,000m – 16:09.56, 33rd), Orla O’Connor (5,000m – 16:28.66, 62nd), AJ Ernst (1,500m – 3:42.81(1), 34th), Liam Back (1,500m – 3:45.21(1), 82nd), Marcelo Rocha (5,000m – 13:55.98, 41st), Ryan Gallagher (5,000m – 13:57.49, 45th)
St. John’s – competed at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships at Icahn Stadium, capturing eight titles across two days of events; Leah Anderson led the way for the Johnnies with three first-place finishes. Anderson posted a top time of 11.79 seconds in the 100-meter dash to earn a new personal best in the event. The mark is the eighth-fastest time in program history, passing Youree Spence's time of 11.80 seconds that was set in 1985. Anderson's mark ranks 71st on the NCAA Division I East Qualifier list this outdoor season.
Villanova – competed at the Joe Walker Invite, hosted by Ole Miss; marks which ranked among the national leaders included:  4x400 of Sumner, Onque-Shabazz, Martinez, Keegan (3:42.76, 80th), McKenna Keegan (400m – 54.50, 69th), Anna Mark-Helwigh (1,500m – 4:19.59, 41st), Lydia Olivere (1,500m – 4:20.99, 55th), Sean Dolan (1,500m – 3:38.60, 8th), Charlie O’Donovan (1,500m – 3:40.95, 20th), Josh Phillips (1,500m – 3:45.86, 95th)
