NEW YORK – For the second straight week, St. John’s Jack Simon has garnered BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week honors. He took second place at the Wildcat Spring Invitational. Butler’s Rayna Oosterhuis was named BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week, earning medalist honors at the Lady Jaguar Invitational. Both golfers led their squad to team titles in their respective tournaments.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Jack Simon, St. John’s, Jr. – In a field of 94 golfers at the Wildcat Spring Invitational, Simon finished second with a 36-hole, even-par score of 140, while helping the Red Storm to their third straight team title. He shot a season-low 66 in the first round. The junior made a tournament-best eight birdies over the two rounds.
BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Rayna Oosterhuis, Butler, Gr. – Oosterhuis carded a 1-over-par 145 to capture medalist honors at the Lady Jaguar Invitational in Carmel, Ind. The graduate student shot an even-par 72, which included two birdies, in the second round after a 73 in the first round. The Bulldogs took the team title with a score of 601 (+25), four strokes ahead of host IUPUI.

Creighton placed fifth in a nine-team field at the The Stampede at the The Creek in Elkhorn, Neb. Nate Vontz led the Bluejays with a 54-hole total of 223 (78-70-75), which tied for eighth. Xavier finished sixth and seventh, respectively, at the Mountaineer Invitational. The Huskies record a three-round score of 905 (+41), while the Musketeers were two strokes behind at 907 (+43). Caleb Manuel was the top UConn finisher, tying for fifth place at 4-over-par 220 (71-73-76). Xavier was led by Michael Prebles, who tied for 19th with a 9-under 225 (77-76-72). Villanova sophomore Matt Minerva used four birdies to tie for first in the 18-hole Temple Spring Invite with an even-par 70 at the 1912 Club. He also shot rounds of 74 and 78 in the Wildcat Spring Invitational…
DePaul finished ninth at the Dayton Flyer Intercollegiate in Kettering, Ohio. Artemiy Yalovenko was the top Blue Demon, tying for 12th. He carded a career-best 68 twice en route to a 2-over-par 212.
BIG EAST Women’s Notes – Seton Hall took third place in the team standings at the Jan Weaver Invitational hosted by Murray State. Graduate student Maddie Sager was the top Pirate performer with a third-place finish among 73 golfers. Creighton finished seventh at The Stampede at the Creek. Freshman Gabby Tremblay was the top Bluejay finisher, tying for 12th place after rounds of 81, 79 and 81. She has led Creighton in three of the four spring tournaments.
