WASHINGTON, D.C. – The BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship Presented by JEEP kicks off on Thursday at noon with the overall No. 1 seed Georgetown hosting Midwest No. 2 seed Creighton in the first semifinal, followed by Midwest No. 1 Marquette vs. East No. 2 seed Seton Hall in the second semifinal. The Hoyas are the host of the championship, which will take place Shaw Field. The BIG EAST Digital Network Presented by SoFi will stream both semifinals on YouTube.
The semifinals are slated for noon and 3:30 p.m. ET. Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser will call the action live for BEDN. The finals will take place on Saturday at 3 p.m. on FS2.

Meeting Notes: Georgetown enters the championship as the three-time defending champion. The Hoyas finished 7-0-2 (.889) and earned the overall No. 1 seed in the tournament with the highest winning percentage. Shaw Field has been the host of the past three semifinals and championship games. Creighton comes in tied for second in the Midwest Division at 5-3-0 (.625). The Bluejays and Hoyas have met just once before in the BIG EAST Championship, the last time was 2015. The Hoyas won 2-1 in overtime at Shaw Field, winning their first BIG EAST Championship title. This will be the first meeting in the championship for head coach of Georgetown, Brian Wiese and head coach of Creighton, Johnny Torres. When these two teams last met, on Nov. 6, 2019, the game ended in a 1-1 draw. The Hoyas hold a 4-1-2 series advantage over the Bluejays.

Meeting Notes: Marquette enters the championship as the No. 1 seed in the Midwest after finishing 5-1-1 (.786) in the Division. Seton Hall finished 5-1-2 in the East Division, the second-highest. In the preseason polls, Seton Hall was picked to finish fifth out of six teams in the East. Marquette was picked fourth out of five. Instead the Pirates are ranked 11th currently in the national polls and the Golden Eagles are ranked 17th. Seton Hall is appearing the BIG EAST Championship for the first time since 2012. Thursday will be the Pirates’ first semifinal appearance since 2004. Marquette is making third consecutive appearance in the league’s postseason championship, ninth overall. Marquette won the first championship title in the new configuration of the Conference in 2013. The last time Marquette played on Shaw Field for a championship, the Golden Eagles finished as runner-up in 2018. Thursday will be the first meeting between the Golden Eagles and Pirates in the Championship. The overall series between Marquette and Seton Hall is tied at 6-6-3. Seton Hall has won the last two meetings: 2-1 in OT on Nov. 2, 2019 and 2-0 in 2018.
