#BEfútbol Championship Kicks Off Saturday

WASHINGTON, D.C.  –  Saturday’s finale of the BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship Presented by JEEP features the two top teams in the East Division as No. 1 seed Georgetown hosts No. 2 seed Seton Hall at Shaw Field at 3 p.m. ET on FS2. Saturday will also be a clash of nationally ranked opponents as the Hoyas are ranked second in the United Soccer Coaches poll and the Pirates are No. 11. It is the first meeting between these two schools in the BIG EAST title game.

Meeting Notes: Both Georgetown (8-0-2) and Seton Hall (8-1-3) enter Saturday’s finale as four-time champions. Georgetown heads into the championship game for the fourth consecutive year, ninth time overall. Seton Hall is making its 10th overall appearance in the title match, the first time since 2004. Georgetown is the defending champion, having won it all in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Seton Hall’s last title came in 1991. Georgetown defeated Creighton, 1-0; while Seton Hall handled Marquette, 4-1, to advance to this year’s championship game. The Hoyas have the series advantage this season having won the first meeting 2-1 in overtime (March 3) on Shaw Field. The second meeting in South Orange, N.J., ended in a 1-1 draw (March 20). Saturday will be the fourth meeting between Seton Hall and Georgetown in the BIG EAST Championship, all were semifinal matches. The Pirates lead the series, 2-1-0. SHU won their last meeting in 2004, 1-0, in overtime. The Hoyas won 2-1 in 1994. Seton Hall won in 1988, 2-0.
