UConn, Denver, Georgetown Earns Postseason Berths and #BIGEASTwlax Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Attacker Of The Week
Grace Coon, UConn, Jr., A
Coon led the BIG EAST in goals and points last week as the Huskies went 1-1 and clinched a berth in the BIG EAST Championship. The junior totaled 11 points off 10 goals and an assist while adding four ground balls and a caused turnover in a split weekend at Villanova. She scored six goals and grabbed three ground balls in Friday’s 14-7 win before adding five points off four goals and a dish in Sunday’s 13-12 setback.

BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Natalia Lynch, Georgetown, Grad., M
Lynch was impressive in a weekend sweep of Butler, leading the BIG EAST in draw controls (13), while ranking third in goals (six) and fifth in points (seven). In Friday’s win, the graduate student scored a hat trick, including the game winner, while adding seven draw controls and a ground ball. She followed that with another hat trick and assist in Sunday’s win, adding six draws, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. With the sweep, Georgetown clinched a berth into the BIG EAST Championship for the 14th straight season.

BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Molly Little, Denver, Grad., D
The Little-led Denver defense posted a 7.97 goals against average in a 2-0 weekend at Marquette as the Pioneers clinched the BIG EAST regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Championship presented by JEEP. Little tallied nine draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers, while the Pioneers averaged 13.50 caused turnovers per game against the Golden Eagles. The Little-led defense limited Marquette to a BIG EAST weekly low of just 14.50 shots on goal per game, while the Golden Eagles committed a weekly high of 21.00 turnovers per contest. Little’s six draw controls on Friday matched her season high.

BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Kylie Hazen, Georgetown, Fr., A
Hazen finished in the top five in both points and goals among all BIG EAST players last week, tallying seven points off six goals and an assist along with four ground balls in a 2-0 weekend against Butler. The rookie attacker opened the weekend with two goals and an assist, along with two ground balls in Friday’s victory. She followed that with four goals and two ground balls in Sunday’s win. Her goals average ranked third among all BIG EAST players last week while her points clip listed fifth.

Katie Comerford, Villanova, Grad., A – led the BIG EAST in assists (four) and ranked second in points (10) in a 1-1 week against UConn; three goals and three assists in Sunday’s 13-12 win over the Huskies
Mackenzie Wallevand, Denver, Sr., M – scored four-straight goals to turn a two-goal deficit into a two goal lead for Denver, part of a four-goal second-half comeback in Denver’ 12-11 OT win that clinched the BIG EAST regular-season title; scored twice and forced a turnover in Denver’s 16-6 win, including the game-winning seventh goal of the game for the Pioneers
