Four Teams Split Latest #BIGEASTtrack Weekly Awards

BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Parker Stokes, Georgetown, Freshman
Making his 3,000-meter steeplechase debut at the Virginia Challenge, Stokes ran the fourth fastest time in Georgetown history with a finish of 8:38.55. He currently ranks third among all Division I runners and first in the BIG EAST.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jordan Torney UConn, Senior
Torney finished second in the decathlon at the Navy Invite and set a PR in the process, piling up 7282 total points.  Torney won the 400 meters (49.08), setting a PR in the event, and the 110-meter hurdles (14.58).  He was second in the pole vault (4.50m), the discus (38.41m) and long jump (7.21m).  His total ranks 22nd in the NCAA and second in the BIG EAST this season.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Angelina Ellis, Butler, Senior
In the premiere women’s 3,000-meter steeple chase at the Rick Erdmann Twilight, Ellis ran the second fastest time in school history, clocking a 10:01.97 for third in the field. Her time leads the BIG EAST in the event and ranks 14th nationally.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Ashley Preston, Villanova, Junior
At the Quaker Invite in Philadelphia, Pa., Preston recorded a personal best in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 4.06 meters. The height is No. 2 all-time in Villanova outdoor history and currently leads the BIG EAST and ranks 49th nationally.
