CAYCE, S.C. – The 2021 BIG EAST Tennis Championship Presented by JEEP is set to take place at the Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center in Cayce, S.C. for the fifth straight year from April 22-25. Originally scheduled for a 9 a.m. ET start time, the women’s first round has been pushed back to 10 a.m.  on Thursday due to cold temperatures in the area.
 
Thursday’s action will feature three first round matches for the women’s championship as No. 8 seed Marquette battles No. 9 seed Georgetown, No. 7 Butler will face No. 10 Seton Hall and No. 6 Creighton will go up against No. 11 Providence.
 
Winners from Thursday’s matches will face No. 1 seed Xavier, No. 2 seed DePaul and No. 3 seed Villanova. All three teams received byes to the Quarterfinals on Friday. No. 4 St. John’s will also play No. 5 UConn that day.
 
As the top seed, Xavier is looking to bring home its second BIG EAST Women’s Tennis championship title. The Musketeers won it all in 2016. Second seeded DePaul has won four of the last six (2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019). No. 4 seed St. John’s won in 2018.
 
Men’s action will not take place until Friday. The men’s championship features eight teams.
