#BIGEASTbase Weekly Honors Awarded To St. John’s Higgins, Creighton’s Tebrake

Player of the Week
Marty Higgins, St. John’s, RS-Fr., INF (Nutley, N.J.)
St. John’s third baseman Marty Higgins ranked in the top three in the conference in hits, batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage and doubles. Higgins batted 7-for-11 ranking second in the BIG EAST in batting with a .636 average. Higgins knocked down three doubles, ranking third in slugging (.909). In the opening game of a 2-2 series with regional and conference rival Seton Hall, Higgins went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles, including a walk-off in the 11th to take the game, 5-4. In the series finale, and 4-2 win, Higgins helped SJU with a double. His on-base percentage for the weekend was .714, which ranked second. Higgins scored three times for the Red Storm, walked once and was hit by two pitches. In the called loss, 19-4 in seven innings, Higgins went 2-for-3 and scored on of the four SJU runs. In the first loss of Saturday’s doubleheader, Higgins reached on a walk.
 
Pitcher of the Week
Dylan Tebrake, Creighton, So., RHP (Cold Spring, Minn.)
The Creighton ace, Dylan Tebrake, was near perfect in a seven-inning complete game shutout win over Georgetown on Friday in the series opener for the Bluejays. Creighton took the series 3-1. Tebrake, a sophomore, need just 86 pitches and faced just three batters over the minimum as he allowed just two singles and a walk while striking out eight in the win. Six were forced out and seven batters grounded out in the 6-0 victory for Creighton. Tebrake moves to 5-0 on the season.
 
Honor Roll
Nick Eaton, Butler
Eaton took on a new role this weekend with Butler as the lefty picked up his first save of the 2021 campaign by pitching effectively for four innings against the Wildcats on Friday. Over four innings, Eaton limited Nova to just three hits and struck out six. He kept the visitors off the scoreboard, allowing BU to win 10-5.
Brody McGrath, Butler
McGrath led Butler with a .545 batting average in the weekend series win vs. Villanova. He went 6-for-11 from the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. On Friday, McGrath went 3-for-4 with three RBIs helping BU win 10-5. He went 2-for-3 the next day and capped off the weekend with a hit and a run.
Alan Roden, Creighton
Roden went 6-for-15 with two home runs, six RBI and four extra base hits in the Bluejays’ series win at Georgetown. Moving into the outfield (both LF and RF) against the Hoyas, Roden led Creighton with a .400 average and a .933 slugging percentage. Roden also scored five runs, drew one walk and was hit by a pitch.
Jerry Huntzinger, Seton Hall
The Seton Hall catcher batted .444 (8-for-18) in a tied series with St. John’s. Huntzinger knocked down five doubles scored four times and earned five RBI with three multi-hit games. Huntzinger went 3-for-5 in a 19-4 called game in Saturday’s doubleheader.
Gordon Graceffo, Villanova
Graceffo pitched 8.0 innings and gave up just one run on four hits. Graceffo struck out five and walked one with a 1.02 ERA behind eight runs from the Wildcat offense. He improved to 4-2.
