BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week
Dani Dabroski, Villanova, So., LF
The sophomore left fielder batted .545 in a three-game sweep at St. John’s over the weekend. Dabroski collected six hits, including a career-high four in Game 1 of the series, while boasting a 6-of-9 clip in Saturday’s double-header. Dabroski scored the game-tying run in Sunday’s series finale before providing the go-ahead score in the fifth. She added two RBI against the Red Storm.
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week
Paige Rauch, Villanova, Sr., P/1B
Rauch went 2-0 in the circle against St. John’s last week, helping the Wildcats score the three-game sweep in Queens. She posted a 2.15 ERA while striking out 10 over 13.0 innings of work. Rauch went the full seven innings in Sunday’s finale, allowing just one run while striking out six in the 3-1 victory. Rauch was also stellar from the plate against St. John’s, boasting a .583 batting average with six RBI, a double and two walks.
BIG EAST Softball Freshman of the Week
Tori Grifone, Providence, Fr., Utility
In a three-game series against Butler, Grifone batted .571 with a double, home run and four RBI. She went 4-for-7 from the plate and was walked once. The rookie also pitched two innings on Saturday, striking out four and not allowing an extra-base hit.
BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll
Lauren Fey, Butler, Jr., INF – batted .462 in three-game series at Providence, collecting six RBI thanks in part to a grand slam on Saturday – her first homer of the season and second of her career
Mackenzie Griman, Butler, So., P/OF – complete game win at Providence on Saturday, striking out two while allowing two earned runs in the 3-2 victory
Sarah Gunderson, Providence, Grad., P – posted a 1.97 ERA over 10.2 innings of work, while batting .333 over three games last week; struck out a combined 11 in two games against Butler and one against St. John’s
Daniela Alvarez, Providence, Jr., P – went 1-0 against Butler with a 3.11 ERA and nine strikeouts over 9.0 innings of work
Kaitlin Mattera, St. John’s, Grad., 1B/C – batted .357 over four games, including a .455 clip against first-place Villanova; hit safely against the Wildcats while adding a double and homer run against Villanova
