NEW YORK – St. John’s Jack Simon has earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week recognition after a successful week participating in three events. Butler teammates Ally Ross and Claire Edwards will share BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week honors after tying for second place at the Indiana State Invitational.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Jack Simon, St. John’s, Jr. – In a busy week playing five rounds, Simon earned his first individual title of the season with a score of 71 (-1) in a St. John’s Dual Match against Iona. In the St. John’s Invitational, he tied for second place with a 74 (+3) and led the Red Storm team with a 16th-place finish at the Connecticut Cup with a 226 (74-76-76).
BIG EAST Female Golfers of the Week
Ally Ross & Claire Edwards, Butler – Ross and Edwards tied for second place at the Indiana State Invitational with a 4-over-par 148. Ross, a senior, carded a 2-under 70 in the second round at the Country Club of Terre Haute, the best score of the day, after a first-round 78. Edwards, a junior, shot 74 in both rounds for her 148 score.

IG EAST Men’s Notes –
Connecticut finished second in the 12-team Connecticut Cup. The host Huskies were led by junior Jared Nelson, who tied for seventh place with a 6-over 222 (72-76-74). Senior Rodrigo Sanchez tied for ninth, one stroke behind, with a 7-under 223 (75-74-74).
St. John’s finished in ninth place. Boston College won the event. The Red Storm may have been the busiest team in the country over the past week as they also competed and won two 18-hole events, the Red Storm Invitational and a Red Storm dual match versus Iona...
DePaul finished second in the John Dallio Match Play at its home course. Nik Gatmaytan led the Blue Demons with a pair of wins in his individual matches. DePaul defeated Bradley 4-2 before falling 3.5-2.5 to Loyola-Chicago in the championship match…Redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn was the top performer for
Marquette at The Calusa Cup in Naples, Fla. He finished in a tie for 29th at 10-over (70-79-77--226). Eichhorn shot a team-best 2-under 70 in the opening round on Sunday before posting a 79 in Monday's second round and a 77 on Tuesday. He was tied for second after the first day of action but could not maintain his spot as the week progressed. The stacked tournament field included No. 1 Florida State, No. 2 Oklahoma, No. 3 Wake Forest, No. 6 Texas, No. 13 Florida, while Georgia Tech and Purdue are receiving votes in the Coaches’ Poll…
Villanova junior Noah Peck shot a 1-under 69 in the 18-hole Rolling Green Invitational in Springfield, Pa. Peck finished second in a field of 76 golfers, while recording his first career top-five finish. The round was his first below par this season and the fifth round of par or better in his career.
BIG EAST Women’s Notes – Butler tied for low team score of the day (297) in the second round of Indiana State Invitational. The Bulldogs finished in third place with a two-day score of 604 (+28) and were two shots behind second-place Green Bay.
