BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week
Brooke Johnson, DePaul, So., RHP/1B
Johnson sparked DePaul to a big three-game sweep of Butler, batting .545 with a double, home run and three RBI against the Bulldogs. The sophomore recorded multiple hits in all three games while posting a .909 slugging percentage, .545 on base percentage and two runs scored.
BIG EAST Softball Pitcher of the Week
Krista Dalgarn, DePaul, Sr., P
Dalgarn was flawless in the circle for the Blue Demons, picking up a win and save as DePaul swept Butler in the three-game series. The senior pitched 9.0 innings of scoreless softball, striking out six and allowing just three hits – all singles. Dalgarn picked up the complete game 2-0 shutout victory on Saturday against the Bulldogs, before coming in for two innings of relief and earning the save in the 3-1 win on Sunday.
BIG EAST Softball Freshman of the Week
Kelsey Carr, Seton Hall, Fr., P/INF
Carr batted .429 with three doubles and three RBI against Villanova over the weekend. She scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the victory over the Wildcats on Sunday. The rookie also threw 9.1 innings with nine strikeouts.
BIG EAST Softball Weekly Honor Roll
Paige Rauch, Villanova, Sr., P/1B – batted .500 on the week with seven RBI and four doubles; pitched to a 3.15 ERA with 13 strikeouts while posting a 1-0 record at Seton Hall
Alyssa Graves, Butler, Sr., P – posted a 1.45 ERA over 9.2 innings of work against DePaul; struck out six and allowed just one extra base hit
Jessica Tomaso, Providence, Jr., INF – posted a .571 batting average last week, going 4-for-7 with three homers in first two games against UConn before being walked three times in Game 3; 1.857 slugging and .727 on base percentage
Janae Barracato, Seton Hall, Sr., UT – batted .545 against Villanova with three doubles; added a 1-for-3 showing at Hofstra to finish the week with a .500 clip
Briana Marcelino, UConn, INF – in a 5-1 week for the Huskies, batted .474 with two RBI, two walks and four stolen bases
