Zsani Kajan Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

Kajan becomes the first player in program history to earn All-America First Team honors

For the first time in the history of St. John's women's soccer, a player has earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team, as Zsani Kajan was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Monday.

Kajan becomes the sixth player in the program history to garner All-America distinction, and the first to be named to the organization's top team. Amanda Pasciolla found a second team spot in 2009, while Kelly McConnell and Nicole Pasciolla received third team bids in 2009 and 2010, respectively. The Johnnies' all-time leading scorer Rachel Daly and former St. John's defender Mecara Bruce both earned second-team recognition in 2015 and 2018.

Kajan, who was also named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team at the conclusion of the 2021 season, tallied four goals in 11 games for the Red Storm. The Budapest, Hungary, native led the Johnnies offensively during conference action, converting on a team-high three goals to tie for fourth in the BIG EAST.

The 5-foot-7 forward also tallied a pair of assists to finish second on the team in points with 10. With four scores on the regular season, Kajan bumped her career total up to 28 and sits fifth on the program's all-time scoring list.

In addition to her success on the pitch, Kajan has also excelled in the classroom, wrapping up her first year in the master's program for International Hospitality Management with a 4.00 grade-point average.
