Providence junior Lisa McNamara tallied a goal and three assists in a 2-0 weekend for the Friars, as she had a stick on four PC goals. In the 2-1 win over New Hampshire on Friday, McNamara assisted on the eventual game-winner in the 40th minute. On Sunday, in a 5-2 come-from-behind victory over LIU, McNamara assisted on the first goal, cutting LIU’s lead to 2-1 in the 34th minute. The junior scored the go-ahead goal five minutes later on a penalty stroke. Her final assist came in the 47th minute. McNamara’s four points against LIU tied her single-game career high, which she previously set in the season opener vs. Bryant (Aug. 27). The Friars’ five goals vs. LIU as a team are the most in a single-game since the 2019 season. That year, Providence scored 5 goals in three different games.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Nicole Fredricks, Old Dominion, Jr., B (West Chester, Pa.)
Old Dominion junior back Nicole Fredricks helped on both sides of the field as ODU marked wins over Longwood and VCU. ODU had scored two goals in the final three minutes of the match to win. Despite being down a goal for much of the game, Fredricks and the Monarch defense held Longwood to five shots, three on goal. It was her first goal of the season. On Sunday, ODU shutout VCU, 3-0. Fredricks and the defense once again held their opponent under 10 shots, with VCU only getting seven off, three on goal. No. 20 Old Dominion has won their last four matches.
