BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Jaela Zimmerman, Creighton, Sr., OH (Lincoln, Neb.)
Creighton outside hitter Jaela Zimmerman earned Tournament MVP honors over the weekend at the Bluegrass Battle as the Bluejays went a perfect 3-0. One of those victories came over No. 3 and defending national champion Kentucky, a match in which Zimmerman collected 18 kills and added 11 digs. The senior also recorded a double-double in the win over USC, recording 16 kills and 16 digs. The Lincoln, Neb. native wrapped up the weekend with a 12-kill, five-dig performance against Northern Iowa.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Anna Holland, Seton Hall, Fr., L (Waukesha, Wis.)
Seton Hall had a bounce back weekend, going a perfect 3-0 at the Fairfield Invitaitonal. Freshman Anna Holland led the Pirates defensively, recording 6.40 digs per set on the weekend, including a pair of 20+ dig matches as she collected All-Tournament honors. Holland began the weekend with 22 digs to go with four assists in a four set win over Fairfield, followed later that night by an 18-dig performance in a sweep over Hofstra. The freshman left her mark on the weekend by recording 24 digs, three assists and five service aces in a sweep against Kent State on Saturday. The five aces for Holland were a first for a Pirate since 2017.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Norah Sis, Creighton, Fr., OH (Papillion, Neb.)
Freshman Norah Sis made an impact all over the floor in helping Creighton to a perfect weekend at the Bluegrass Battle. She began the weekend with a season-best 20 kills to propel the Bluejays past USC, which was followed up by a 16-kill, 17-dig double-double in the three set win over No. 3 Kentucky. Sis then tallied seven kills and nine digs to help Creighton get past Northern Iowa in three sets. The Papillion, Neb. native finished the weekend with 3.91 kills per set and 3.00 digs per set while hitting .291 en route to All-Tournament honors.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jaymeson Kinley, Butler, So., L (Lexington, Ky.)
Sophomore Jaymeson Kinley recorded 6.00 digs per set as the Bulldogs went 2-1 at the Chippewa Invite. Kinley started off the weekend well with a 31-dig performance in a four set win over Youngstown State, followed by back-to-back 20+ dig matches against Central Michigan and North Dakota.
Rachel Krasowski, DePaul, So., L (Orland Park, Ill.)
DePaul sophomore Rachel Krasowski had another strong week defensively coming off earning BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors last week. The libero recorded 20+ digs in each of her three matches this weekend, including 27 digs in a five-set victory over Marshall.
Savannah Rennie, Marquette, Gr., MB (San Diego, Calif.)
Savannah Rennie helped Marquette’s charge towards a 3-0 record this past weekend at the Red & White Invitational, earning Tournament MVP honors along the way. The middle blocker’s impact was felt all over the floor, as she averaged 2.91 kills per set, 1.36 blocks per set and a .348 hitting percentage.
Shaliyah Rhoden, Providence, Fr. (Rowlett, Texas)
Providence freshman Shaliyah Rhoden earned Tournament MVP honors at the Holly Young Tournament hosted by the University of New Hampshire. Rhoden recorded 19 kills and a .531 hitting percentage in a four-set win over Siena, and capped the weekend with a 21-kill effort to defeat New Hampshire.
Rachele Rastelli, St. John’s, Sr., RS (Parma, Italy)
St. John’s senior Rachelle Rastelli earned All-Tournament honors as the Red Storm came away with a 2-1 record at the Crowne Plaza Albany - The Desmond Hotel Volleyball Classic. The senior began the weekend with a 23-kill performance against UAlbany, nearly matching her total from all of last weekend. Rastelli then became the 12
th player in St. John’s volleyball history to reach 1000 kills, accomplishing the feat against Cornell.
