BIG EAST Notables

• Undefeated Xavier (5-0-0) broke into the United Soccer Coaches Poll this week, debuting at No. 23; the Musketeers’ ranking is tops for BIG EAST teams this week after Georgetown (2-0-3) fell to No. 24 following a pair of draws with Dartmouth and Princeton
• The Hoyas will have a great opportunity to catapult back up the rankings with two top-25 opponents this week: No. 18 West Virginia on Thursday and No. 9 Rutgers on Sunday – Thursday’s tilt in Morgantown will stream on ESPN+ and Sunday’s showdown in D.C. will stream on the BIG EAST Digital network presented by SoFi, available on FloSports
• In the latest NCAA statistical rankings, Creighton (4-1-1) landed in the top 25 in five categories, highlighted by goalkeeper Keelan Terrell’s No. 1 ranking in total shutouts (four)
• Following her three-goal, seven-point week, Providence’s Meg Hughes skyrocketed up the NCAA charts as well. The sophomore, who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, went from 124^th to 15^th nationally in points per game (2.40) and from 129^th to eighth in goals per game (1.00). The Friars went 2-0-0 last week to improve to 3-1-1 this fall.
• Villanova won its lone game of the week last week to improve to 5-0-0 on the season. It marks the Wildcats’ best start since 2008. Next up for Villanova is a road tilt at Virginia Tech on Thursday (5 p.m. on ACCNX).
• Two-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week Emma Martin has helped Butler (4-1-0) to four straight wins – the rookie goalkeeper has played every minute of the last four matches, posting a 0.75 GAA and .833 save percentage during that undefeated stretch
