DePaul and Xavier Selected to Represent BIG EAST at ITA Conference Masters

NEW YORK -- Members of the DePaul and Xavier tennis programs have been selected to represent the BIG EAST at the ITA Conference Masters set to take place November 6-9, 2025 at the Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, CA

The 2025 BIG EAST Championship Most Outstanding Player and unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection, Abby Nugent from Xavier, will represent the conference in the women’s singles competition. She will be joined by teammate and fellow 2025 BIG EAST tournament champion Clara Owen in the women’s doubles draw.

On the men’s side, 2025 BIG EAST Player of the Year Alejandro Gandini will compete in the singles draw. Gandini and DePaul teammate Thomas Giles were selected to represent the BIG EAST in the men’s doubles slate.

Through the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Championship, four players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship (semifinalists). Additionally, three doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship (champion, finalist, third place). Each NCAA AQ-eligible, Division I conference will designate one singles player and one doubles team from each gender to participate in the event.

The complete competition schedule will be released at a later date.

Conference participation in the ITA Masters is part of the NCAA’s two-year pilot program where the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships are being contested in the fall of 2024 and 2025 instead of in the following spring.

The BIG EAST representatives were selected via a nomination and balloting process where the head coaches could not vote for their own athletes. A small subcommittee of non-involved head coaches certified the votes and ranked any alternate selections as necessary.
