BIG EAST Teams Put on Offensive Displays Saturday Night; Marquette Takes on Indiana on Sunday

MBB Minute – Saturday's quartet of games saw four high-octane offensive outings, including head coach Kevin Willard's first win on the sidelines with Villanova.  Butler and Providence both hit triple-digits in the scoring column.
 
Butler 112, IU Indianapolis 80 – Box Score
Butler registered its highest scoring output in 10 years in a win over IU Indy.  A balanced scoring attack, as five Bulldogs scored in double figures and 10 scored seven or more points in the 32-point win.  Jalen Jackson led Butler with 17 points while Michael Ajayi logged a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. 
 
Villanova 94, Queens 74 – Box Score
Bryce Lindsey scored 25 and Acaden Lewis added 21, helping guide Villanova to its first win of the Kevin Willard era.  With the win, Willard tied his father Ralph with 336 career victories as a head coach.  Nova's Duke Brennan had 17 points and a career-high 20 rebounds - the most by a Wildcat since Daniel Ochefu had 24 boards against Seton Hall on Jan. 3, 2015.
 
Alabama 103, St. John's 96Box Score
No. 5/6 St. John's fell to No. 15/16 Alabama in a back-and-forth affair at MSG. Four Red Storm players reached double figures, led by Zuby Ejiofor's double-double (27 points, 10 rebounds).  Bryce Hopkins added 19 points in his SJU debut.
 
Virginia Tech 107, Providence 101 (OT)Box Score
Providence fell in overtime to Virginia Tech at Mohegan Sun Arena.  The Friars had a chance to win in regulation but Stefan Vaaks' 3-point attempt rolled around the rim and out. Despite the overtime loss, Jason Edwards (28) and Jaylin Sellers (26) combined for 54 points for the Friars.

Sunday features a neutral-site matchup in Chicago, as Marquette takes on Indiana in the Waterkeeper Alliance Invitational at the United Center.  Tipoff is set for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN.
