PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville junior Justin Dorward earned BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week honors while St. John's freshman Harin Lee was named BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 5, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday.
Lee earned the BIG EAST Women's Golfer of the Week award after finishing second at the Hoya Invitational at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md., on April 4-5. The freshman carded a 76-73=149 (+5) to finish just three strokes behind individual champion Sandra Changkija of Nova Southeastern. Lee led the 89-player field with 25 pars and ranked second with a 4.15 scoring average on par 4s. The second-place finish marked Lee's third top-two showing of the spring season. She has finished in the top-14 in each of her eight collegiate tournaments. The field featured three teams from the Golfweek Top 100 as well as four BIG EAST teams including Georgetown, Rutgers, St. John's and Seton Hall. Lee led the Red Storm to a sixth-place team finish with a two-round score of 646.
Dorward earns BIG EAST Men's Golfer of the Week after placing second at the UALR/First Tee Classic at Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark., on March 28-29. The junior fired a two-under 70 in the final round and finished at 73-71-70=214 (-2) for the tournament. He helped Louisville to its highest team finish of the season, as the Cardinals placed second with a three-round score of 890. Dorward also had the highest individual finish of the year for the Cardinals by coming in second.
The final BIG EAST Golfer of the Week release will be on April 13.
