BIG EAST Announces 2011 Women's Golf Postseason Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Louisville senior Sara-Maude Juneau earned her second-straight BIG EAST Player of the Year honor as three different schools earned BIG EAST Women's Golf postseason awards, announced by the conference office on Friday. St. John's freshman Harin Lee earned Freshman of the Year honors, while Notre Dame head coach Susan Holt was named Coach of the Year.

Juneau gave Louisville its third-straight BIG EAST Player of the Year, joining 2009 winner Cindy LaCrosse. She led the BIG EAST with a 73.15 scoring average and was ranked No. 19 in the country in the final regular-season Golfstat rankings. The senior did not finish outside the top 20 in any of her nine tournaments this year, and had five top-five finishes. Juneau highlighted her year with a first-place finish at the William K. Warren Irish Invitational, and went on to place sixth at the BIG EAST Golf Championship with a three-round score of 228. Other Cardinals joining Juneau on the All-BIG EAST team were senior Laura Anderson and sophomore Anna-Karin Ljungstrom.

Lee becomes the first St. John's player to earn a major BIG EAST postseason award after being named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year. Lee did not finish outside the top 15 in any of her 10 tournaments this year, and placed in the top two in each of her last five. Lee won the EKU El Diablo Intercollegiate and the Brown University Invitational while taking second at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate and the Hoya Invitational. The freshman then capped her regular season by becoming the first Red Storm golfer to win the BIG EAST individual title, defeating Louisville's Ljungstrom in a four-hole playoff.

Holt earned BIG EAST Coach of the Year after leading Notre Dame to the 2011 BIG EAST title, her second while at the helm of the Irish. Holt captained a squad the put four players on the All-BIG EAST team, the most of any school. Earning recognition from Notre Dame were freshman Nicole Zhang, senior So-Hyun Park, junior Becca Huffer and freshman Kristina Nhim.

Also earning spots on the All-BIG EAST team were Cincinnati senior Bambee Dela Paz and USF sophomore Shena Yang.
