Providence, R.I. - The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee has announced the teams and individuals selected to participate in the 2012 Division I Women's Golf Regionals. A total of 378 participants have been selected for competition at one of three regional sites. USF and Notre Dame will represent the BIG EAST at the Central Regional.
USF earned the league's automatic qualification after winning the 2012 BIG EAST Women's Golf Championship on April 24. It was the first ever BIG EAST title for the Bulls. Notre Dame will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the NCAA regional golf tournament after receiving an at-large bid.
The Central regional's 24-team field will be played at the Ohio State Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio on May 10-12. A total of eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional site. The championship finals will be held May 22-25 at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and will be hosted by Vanderbilt.
