Notre Dame Women's Golf Concludes Play at 2011 NCAA Championship

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Notre Dame women's golf team completed the 2011 NCAA Championship in 22nd place Saturday at the Traditions Club Golf Course in Bryan, Texas. The Irish, the 2011 BIG EAST Women's Golf Champions, finished with a four-round score of 1,224 (+72) in their first appearance in program history at the NCAA Championship. Notre Dame was the lone BIG EAST team to qualify for the NCAA Championship after placing fifth at the NCAA Central Regional May 5-7. Junior Becca Huffer led the Irish in the tournament as she registered a four-round total of 296 (+8) to conclude the event tied for 24th place. Huffer shot an 80 on the first day of action, followed by rounds of 71, 73 and 72 to lead Notre Dame. Senior captain Katie Conway shot her best round of the tournament in the final round, carding a 74 (+2). Conway finished with a four-round total of 307 (+19) to tie for 74th place. Freshman Nicole Zhang notched the third-best performance for the Irish, shooting a 315 over the four rounds to tie for 106th place. Senior So-Hyun Park and freshman Kristina Nhim rounded out the Irish scorers, finishing with scores of 318 and 322, respectively. UCLA won the team title with a four round score of 1,173 (+21).
