Louisville's Juneau, Notre Dame's Usher Take BIG EAST Golfer of the Month Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - As BIG EAST teams wrap up their fall schedules, the conference announced its final BIG EAST Golfer of the Month awards for the year. Louisville senior Sara-Maude Juneau was named BIG EAST women's Golfer of the Month, while Notre Dame junior Tom Usher was named BIG EAST men's Golfer of the Month.
Juneau earns BIG EAST women's Golfer of the Month after a pair of top-five finishes in October. The senior started the month at the William K. Warren Irish Invite on Oct. 2-3, where she finished with a three round score of one-under 215 to capture the tournament title. The victory tied her for the most wins in school history with current LPGA player Cindy LaCrosse. Juneau shot rounds of 72, 74 and 69 to finish first of 74 competitors while leading the team to a fourth-place finish. The Quebec native then fired an eight-under-par 208 at the Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 8-10. Juneau finished just three strokes off the lead, shooting an opening-round 70 before back-to-back rounds of 69, tying her season-best score.
Usher earns BIG EAST men's Golfer of the Month by racking up three top-15 finishes, including two top five finishes and a tournament win. Usher started the month at the Firestone Invitational Oct. 11-12, where he shot a three-round total of four-under 212, placing fourth of 75 individual competitors. His rounds of 71, 72 and 69 helped the Irish to a second-place finish. The junior followed that with a 15th-place finish at the Lone Star Invitational on Oct. 17-18. He finished one over par while helping the team finish second. Usher then captured the individual title at the St. Mary's Invitational Oct. 25-26. He shot the lowest single round of his career with an opening-round 68 and proceeded to match his lowest 54-hole total with a 212 (-4). He finished the month with five rounds of under-par golf and three rounds at even par.
